Learning Resource Centre

Students have exclusive use of a dedicated Higher Education Common Room where you can meet and socialise with friends. Our classrooms are flexible and allow for group teaching, workshop style interaction including formal lecture seating with interactive screens. Students have free access to WiFi throughout the campus.

Students have access to the College’s extensive Learning Resource Centre (LRC) located over three floors. It is designed with areas for quiet study, group workings and independent research.

Students can use the computer facilities throughout the LRC which include PCs and printers. Dedicated subject librarians are on hand to give you support and guidance with a welcome desk located on the second floor. The Library houses approximately 45,000 physical books and students also have 24/7 access to the online library where they can research e-journals and online resources.

The Library and Learning Resource Centre have extended opening hours for university centre students. Typical opening hours are weekdays from 08.30am to 05.00pm, with late openings typically on Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Thursdays. (Library opening hours are published on the library webpage.)

Digital Resources

When you enrol as a Higher Education university centre student, you will get your very own Office365 student account with student email.

Students have 24/7 access to our online virtual learning environment, Moodle. Each course has a Moodle page where you can find your course modules with resources and learning materials. You will be required to submit your coursework electronically via Turnitin on your course or module Moodle page. Reducing the need for paper copies in line with our Sustainability Strategy. We have a laptop loan scheme available for students. We advise students to enquire early about availability and loan duration.

Our students have embraced new learning technologies in the past year with the rapid adoption of online learning and teaching practices necessitated by the pandemic. You can expect to have some teaching delivered online through platforms including Zoom and Teams.
