We are committed to making Higher Education programmes accessible to everyone which means ensuring they are cost effective and helping you find the financial support you need.

Tuition Fees

Tuition fees costs cover the tuition costs of your course. Tuition fees do not cover additional costs that you may have to support your learning, for example, purchasing books or travel costs to and from the university centre.

Please note students may incur additional costs for course-specific activities, for example, travel costs for study trips. You will be informed at the earliest opportunity of any additional costs that may apply to you.

Tuition Fee Funding

UK citizens studying an undergraduate course can apply for a tuition fee loan. The loans are only repayable when you graduate and earn a certain amount. You may also be eligible for supplementary loans (maintenance) to help cover the cost of living. To see if you are eligible for student finance, visit www.gov.uk/student-finance.

How to pay your tuition fees

If you are a self-financing student or a sponsored student you must arrange to pay your fees. Once you are registered and fully enrolled on your course you will be invoiced for tuition fees.

You can pay your fees either in full at the start of the academic year or we can set up an instalment payment plan with you. If you choose to pay in instalments make sur you know when the payment dates are. Please get in touch with our Finance team who will be able to give you advice and guidance.

Please note: If your circumstances change and you need to withdraw from your course, you may be liable for any outstanding tuition fees. Any tuition fee adjustment will be based on the date of your last attendance and/or assignment submission including online engagement. If you withdraw, transfer to another institution or take time out from your course, you may be eligible for a reduction of part of your tuition fees, as follows:

Students with a loan from the Student Loans Company

If you withdraw before enrolment, or within the first two weeks of your course start date, you will not be charged.

The Student Loans Company pays your tuition fee loan in three parts, relating to three liability dates:

  • 25% of the total tuition fee on the first date
  • 25% on the second date
  • 50% on the third date

If you withdraw from your course, you will be charged what is owed on the date of your last attendance, assignment submission or online engagement activity.

For example, if you withdraw between the second and third dates you will be charged 50% of your fees (25% + 25%). The Student Loans Company will normally pay what you owe.

If for any reason they do not pay us, or subsequently reduce or remove your entitlement, we will treat you as a self-funding student (see below). Please note it is your responsibility to inform the Student Loans Company of your change in circumstance.

If you are a self-funding or sponsored student

If you withdraw before enrolment, or within the first two weeks of your course start date, we will refund all tuition fees paid.

After the first three weeks of your course, we will charge tuition fees on a pro rata basis based on the Student Loans Company payment schedule outlined above.

For example, if you withdraw from an undergraduate course with a £6,000 annual tuition fee during your third week on the course, you will owe £1,500 (25% x £6,000).

Please note that the College has the right to retain an amount to cover its reasonable costs and losses as a result of your withdrawal. Please refer to the Fees Policy. If you require advice or guidance, the Finance team is able to offer you support and agree a payment plan with you to cover your tuition fees.

Please also refer to our Fees Policy.

Disabled Students’ Allowance (DSA)

The Disabled Students’ Allowance (DSA) provides extra financial help to UK Higher Education students to allow them to meet the extra costs of studying as a direct result of a learning difficulty, disability and/or ongoing health condition. It is a non-repayable grant based on need, not income.

Apply via your Student Finance account

It is usually paid to the student or directly to the organisation supplying the service or equipment. The application process can take up to 14 weeks so start it as soon as possible. For more information, visit https://www.gov.uk/disabled-students-allowance-dsa

Through DSA you may get help with the costs of:

  • Specialist equipment or computer software
  • A specialist support tutor
  • Extra travel costs you have to pay because of your disability
  • Other costs, like photocopying or printing costs
