We want all students to understand harassment and sexual misconduct, know how to report it, understand consent, and learn how to safely intervene when they see concerning behaviour.

Mandatory Training

Healthy Relationships and Consent Course

Since September 2024, all students must complete this online course covering:

  • Understanding consent: What consent means and how to recognise it
  • Recognising harmful behaviour: Identifying harassment and sexual misconduct
  • Being an active bystander: How to safely intervene
  • Reporting and support: How to get help or report incidents
  • Challenging myths: Addressing misconceptions about sexual assault
  • Legal knowledge: Overview of relevant laws

The course includes two quizzes you must pass to complete it, and we ask for feedback to help us improve the content.

Student Induction

All new students receive face-to-face sessions on:

  • Healthy relationships and consent
  • How to use the Report + Support Portal
  • Campus safety and security
  • Available support services
  • Students’ Union advocacy services

Throughout the year, we run:

  • Consent Week: Interactive workshops and activities
  • Healthy Relationships Month: Focus on positive relationships
  • Bystander Intervention Training: Practical skills for safe intervention
  • Support Services Promotion: Highlighting available help

Interactive Training

We provide:

  • Workshops on consent in different situations
  • Training on recognising concerning behaviour
  • Peer support and mentoring training
  • Digital safety and online harassment prevention

We regularly ask for feedback to improve our training and make sure it’s effective.
