Non-disclosure agreements

We will not use non-disclosure agreements (NDAs) for complaints of sexual harassment, abuse, misconduct, or other forms of harassment and bullying.

Our Commitment

This means:

• No NDAs in settlements: We won’t require NDAs as part of any resolution
• No silencing clauses: We won’t include clauses preventing discussion of experiences
• Support for speaking out:  We support students’ right to share their experiences appropriately
• Transparency: We encourage openness about our processes and outcomes

Why This Matters

This policy:

• Aligns with Office for Students requirements
• Supports the “Can’t Buy My Silence” campaign
• Follows sector-wide best practice
• Meets our ethical obligations to students

Our Alternative Approach

Instead of NDAs, we focus on:

• Restorative approaches: Where appropriate and wanted by those affected
• Educational outcomes: Learning and development rather than silencing
• Supportive resolutions: Focus on healing and moving forward
• Prevention:  Addressing root causes rather than just symptoms
