The Construction Management for England: Construction Site Supervisor programme has been designed to equip students with a wide range of skills, knowledge and understanding to work in their chosen specialism, or progress to further graduate opportunities. At Croydon University Centre, we have a long history of collaborating with London-based universities to give our students ample opportunities to progress onto undergraduate degree programmes upon successful completion of their course.
The purpose of BTEC Higher Nationals in Construction Management for England is to develop students as professional, self-reflecting individuals able to meet the demands of employers in the construction sector and adapt to a constantly changing world.
The entry requirements for the course include a recent education background such as a BTEC Level 3 qualification in Construction or a related field or a strong GCE Advanced Level profile with good performance in relevant subjects, usually accompanied by GCSEs at grades A*-C (or 9-4), including Maths and English. Other related Level 3 qualifications are also considered. Alternatively, an Access to Higher Education Diploma from an approved institution is accepted. For international students, equivalent qualifications at Level 3 are required, along with English language proficiency if applicable. Relevant work experience in the construction or related industry can be considered, particularly for mature students or those without formal qualifications.
This course provides a strong blend of academic knowledge and practical industry skills, preparing students for careers in construction and construction management. Developed with input from leading professional bodies and employers, it focuses on current industry practices, employability, and professional development.
Students gain hands-on experience through real-world projects and vocational assessments while developing expertise in areas such as construction technology, site supervision, surveying and setting-out, Building Information Modelling (BIM), and sustainability. The programme also strengthens key workplace skills, including leadership, teamwork, problem-solving, and communication.
The qualification supports progression to higher-level roles such as Engineering Surveyor, Site Supervisor, and Project Manager, as well as further study on related degree programmes. It also provides a foundation for future professional membership with organisations such as ICE, CIOB, CABE, and CIBSE.
With industry-focused Pearson-set projects and Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL) opportunities, the course offers a flexible and practical pathway to employment, career advancement, and higher education.
This programme prepares graduates for a wide range of career opportunities within the construction and built environment sector, particularly in construction management and site supervision. Graduates may pursue roles such as Site Supervisor, Construction Manager, Project Manager, Engineering Surveyor, Construction Engineer, or Sustainability Consultant.
With industry experience and professional development, career progression can lead to senior positions including Senior Site Supervisor, Senior Project Manager, and Chartered Fellowship (FCIOB) status.

Subject to individual university entry requirements and policies, graduates may be eligible for advanced standing, allowing direct entry into the second or third year of a related degree programme. This creates a clear pathway to higher qualifications, enhanced career prospects, and professional recognition within the construction industry.
This programme is delivered through a modular structure, with each module taught over approximately 14-15 weeks. To achieve the full qualification, students must successfully complete eight modules. Learning is delivered through a combination of lectures, seminars, tutorials, workshops, and practical activities designed to develop both academic knowledge and industry-relevant skills.
Assessment is primarily coursework-based and takes place after the completion of the relevant teaching activities. A variety of assessment methods are used to reflect real workplace practices and support the development of professional competencies, including:

Students are graded at Pass, Merit, or Distinction level, with the final qualification grade determined by the accumulation of points achieved across individual units.
